Falcon Brassworks - Under New Ownership

Falcon Brassworks now has new owners - Nigel, Jackie, Peter and Sam. Some of you will recognise Nigel as one of the owners of Dart Castings/MJT Scale Components. Falcon will continue to be operated as a separate company and will not be integrated into Dart Castings, but there will be a trading relationship. What this means to customers is that both companies will be sharing a stand at shows.

After a lot of time spent re-organising the range of nearly 500 kits, the business is now reaching a point where kits are once again available, starting with the range of wagon kits which are available for online purchase now, although initially delivery times will be a little slower than usual. It is planned that many will be improved and new assembly instructions will be written. In the meantime, kits will remain available in their current form. Unfortunately, there are some kits that have such a low unit sale per year that it may not be cost effective to update them.

Priority will be given to those kits for which there is most demand and we ask for your help with this. If there is a kit which you would like to purchase then please email us or write to us at the addres below so that we can prioritise the kit re-introduction accordingly.

Using the tabs at the top of this website it is possible to view listings of all the kits previously in the range. If the kit is available then online purchasing buttons will be present.

Thank you for your patience while we re-establish the company.

A Brief History

Falcon Brassworks was established over 20 years ago as 'Jidenco' and offers a range of finescale etched brass kits for locomotives, chassis, tenders, carriages and rolling stock. The range focuses on prototypes that other companies are unlikely to produce including locomotives from the Caledonian Railway, Highland Railway, GWR, LSWR, L&Y, LMS, Furness Railway, LBSCR, LNER, LNWR, MR, SECR, SR and BR.

The Company was acquired in 1996 by Philip Rudd and moved to Llechryd in West Wales in December 1998. Philip undertook a programme of upgrading and improving a number of the kits. Many have had new masters that have improved the quality of the castings and many new lost wax parts are now supplied with the kits. Some etches were revised to include additional detail such as Brake Rigging, Safety Chains and other details.

In good hands many of the range of kits have won the highest awards on the exhibition circuits although for the time being they will remain the domain of the experienced modeller.
